Board of Directors

Mary Bjork, President

Mary (trombone) joined the Calhoun-Isles Community Band in 2011. She has been playing trombone since 6th grade and originally chose it because it's the coolest looking instrument. Mary lives in South Minneapolis with her family, and she works at Cummins Power Systems, leading a project management team.

Erica Orton, Vice President

Erica (bass clarinet) joined the Calhoun Isles Community Band in 2010.  She attended the University of Minnesota where she played Bb clarinet in the University bands.  She switched to bass clarinet in 2013.  She especially enjoys movie music and showtunes!  When Erica is not playing the bass clarinet, she works for the Bush Foundation in St. Paul as their Learning & Evaluation Manager.

Jeanette Nelson, Treasurer

Jeanette (oboe, Eb clarinet, English horn) has been a member of CICB since around 1995, and has been among those who have served as band librarian. By day, she is the Controller for the specialty foods distributor, Classic Provisions. By night, when you aren't finding her on double reed, you might find her playing with the klezmer/gypsy band "Mazel Tov Cocktail" playing string bass and clarinet. You might also find her on an alto bench for a Sacred Harp (shaped noted) singing, or sitting in on bass or fiddle at a Cajun jam around town, or singing out of Rise Up Singing with a folk song circle. Jeanette is passionate about CICB, as the band has become an important part of her community.

Shawn Jarvis, Secretary

Shawn (alto sax) joined the Calhoun-Isles Community Band in 2004.

Megan Haugen, Director of Communications

Megan (euphonium) joined the Calhoun Isles Community Band in 2015.

Elisabeth Hunt, Director of Logistics

Elisabeth (bass clarinet) joined the Calhoun-Isles Community Band in 2001. She has been playing in band since the age of 10, and has been involved in community bands since high school.  Bass clarinet is perfect for her because it's fun and easy.  Elisabeth is the member support and training director for Species360.

Tiffany Brand, Past President

Tiffany (trombone) joined CICB in the fall of 2008.  She is an engineering alumna of the University of Michigan, where she was active in the Michigan Marching Band as well as hockey, men's basketball, and University bands, and was a member of Kappa Kappa Psi, the national honorary band fraternity.  Day to day, Tiffany supervises the cost estimating group at The Toro Company world headquarters in Bloomington.  She also enjoys instructing Zumba Fitness™ classes for Minneapolis Community Education, and volunteering with the United Way Women's Giving community.  Tiffany is married to Chris Brand, also a member of the CICB trombone section.
