Set Sail With Us!

Ahoy!

Time to 'Set Sail' on another year of great music making with great people! Thanks to the CICB board for setting up our new page. I will enter Director's Note's here instead of via e-mail.

Our first concert is themed after our motto - "Set Sail With Us" and should be a great way to start the season. Concert date is Tuesday, Oct 21. I have been very impressed with our first two rehearsals and feel the band is ready to take on this challenging program.

Music we will be performing:

Blue Lake Overture by John Barnes Chance

Sea Songs by Ralph Vaughan Williams

Variations on a Scandinavian Sailor's Song by Minnesota composer J. Robert Hanson

The Glory of the Yankee Navy by John Philip Sousa

Highlights from South Pacific by Rodgers and Hammerstein

selections by the Calhoun Isles Dixieland Band

Parade of the Tall Ships by Jay Chattaway

Drunken Sailor arranged by Grant Hull

Russian Sailor's Dance by Gliere

Thanks for the many other good chart suggestions - there are numerous great sailing songs to choose from!

Other concerts this season will be:

Holiday Concert - A Traditional Calhoun-Isles Christmas

St Patrick's Day Concert - Ireland, of Legend and Lore

Pops Concert - An Evening of Jazz

I'm excited! I look forward to seeing you all this Tuesday night at Jefferson for our 7:00 rehearsal. Only 6 rehearsals left until the fall Concert!
