We have had the great pleasure of playing for large, appreciative audiences at beautiful venues on perfect summer evenings. Lots of great comments from your performance in Minnetonka last night. It was a delight to perform with all of you. Kudos to Azure and all of our soloists and to our euph section for a great concert.
This Saturday we get to do it again, with some special challenges. The Hopkins Raspberry Festival is an annual appearance for us. As usual, It is expected to be a hot/humid day. Bring water! It is a festival setting meaning several community bands will be performing throughout the day which with it brings the inevitable comparisons. We have always played well at this event, even when sections have been numerically challenged due to schedules. Downbeat is high noon, please be ready for an 11:30 warm up/tune. We will have exactly 45 minutes to perform - the brass band will not play. My goal is to get in as much music as possible.
Here's the line up:
Parade of the Tall Ships
Dixie Jazz Funeral
West Side Story project
In the Mood as time allows
As always, let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.
